Which players will make the final roster?
The Washington Capitals have made it clear that they want to keep center Evgeny Kuznetsov, and that they’ll take him at No. 13, according to the team’s official roster announcement.
But it’s unclear if they’ll do the same with defenseman Dmitry Orlov, who was drafted with the seventh overall pick in the 2018 draft.
The Caps have a need for a defenseman who can play on the top pairing, and Orlov’s versatility will make it harder to keep him around.
The team’s biggest need is on the blueline, though.
It doesn’t have a clear top-four defenseman and has struggled mightily with injury.
In addition, Washington doesn’t exactly have the depth to make the playoffs, but it’s a chance to make a playoff run if it can’t get out of the first round.
