Cowboys vs. Falcons preview
Posted October 10, 2018 07:18:18The Cowboys and Falcons have had a little bit of a bumpy road to the playoffs this season, which has seen them play in six games (and one loss).
But they did manage to pull out a win over the Packers on Sunday, and their defense is showing some signs of improvement.
The Falcons are looking to improve upon their 2-0 start to the season, with a win in Week 1 over the Cowboys likely sending them into the bye week.
Atlanta’s defense is still a work in progress, but the Falcons have shown some signs that the team is finally starting to turn things around.
On Sunday, Falcons cornerback Desmond Trufant was flagged for a holding penalty in the first quarter, but he recovered the fumble.
The Falcons had to settle for a field goal in the end zone.
That would have given them a 7-0 lead, but with the clock running out and time expired, Falcons kicker Justin Fields missed his second field goal attempt of the game.
The Atlanta defense was in control, and the Cowboys scored on a 44-yard field goal to make it 11-0.
That’s not great, but it was close enough to give Atlanta a win.
With the win, the Falcons are now 9-3 and tied for the NFC East lead.
The Cowboys are still tied with the Packers with eight games left.
Dallas has the most wins of any team in the NFC.
They have a whopping 11-3 record and are looking for their first playoff berth since 2011.
Atlanta is coming off back-to-back road wins against the 49ers and Saints, and they have three more to play.
The matchup between the Cowboys and the Falcons could determine who ends up with the last wild card spot.
The game starts at 7 p.m. ET.
